Alain Fohr joined the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs in
1978.
He first held positions at various universities in Ghana, Iraq and Morocco
before being appointed Cooperation Attaché in Greece. After a first return to
the French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs in Paris, he was nominated
Cultural Councillor in Mexico and Director of the French Institute of Latin
America. He returned to the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs in Paris in
2000 as a Human Resources Officer. This would be followed by a position as
Cultural Councillor in Buenos Aires (2003-2004) and Councillor for Cooperation
and Cultural Action, Director of the French Institute of Athens (2004
-2008).
From that date, he returned to the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs as
Head of Cultural and Artistic Cooperation, in the Cultural Diversity and World
Heritage Department. Since 2010, he has been Cultural Councillor and Director of
the French Institute in Madrid and of the French Institute of Spain.
